What is the first impression people get of your site? When your blog appears in search engine results, what encourages the person to click your blog instead of one of the other sites on the results page? The blog title, post title and content exerpt will determine if searchers click on your blog in the search engines. Be sure those items attract people looking for that term. Typing out titles and opening sentences that attract readers is a learned ability for most people. The longer you blog the better you will get at it. Feed agregators and feed readers take your blog title, post title, and the first 100-400 words of your post, unless the blog owner has set his reader to display your entire post. But usually it’s the 100-400 words, so keep that in mind. You want a title that catches their attention and content that grabs the reader so they will visit your site to learn more. That gets them to your blog where they will finish reading your post and then perhaps sign up for your newsletter. That’s the reaction you are working for, because once you have their e-mail address they will more likely become customers. Also keep in mind that blogging is different than other media. Newspapers put the most eye-catching photos and stories on the front page. Bloggers, though, get visitors entering through any page on their site so every page must be appealing to the visitor. Here are some things to include on your blog to make it look more personal and active:
