Wish your blog was ranking in the top for Google, Yahoo, MSN, and the other search engines? It takes a lot of time and effort, but you can do it, even with a new site. It might not happen overnight, but within 90 days, following these tactics, your site could be ranking on the first pages of Google for some of your keywords.
Here’s what you need to do:
- download and activate the Wordpress plugin All in One SEO
- download and activate the Wordpress plugin Ultimate Tag Warrior
- download and activate Share This Wordpress plugin
- post to your blog daily or at least 3 times each week
- create a robot.txt file for your blog
- work on getting incoming links to your blog (using 3WayLinks gives a great boost)
- submit articles to article directories such as EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com
- to save time submit your articles to Submit Your Article, a program that submits your articles to hundreds of article directories
- submit your blog to Technorati
- make helpful comments on other blogs that are in your niche and include your URL
- check out answers.yahoo.com, find a question that you can answer, write a post about it at your blog, and then post an answer at answer.yahoo.com with a link back to your new post
The download link for Ultimate Tag Warrior is under “Current Downloads.” You probably want “Final For Wordpress 2.0.”
To get incoming links you can use 3WayLinks, article marketing, social bookmarking (Share This plugin helps), posting at answers.yahoo.com and other blogs (even if they are using the nofollow, the search engines will still see the link and follow it, but you won’t get any pagerank boost from that site).
To learn more about how to get links, read Jack Humphrey’s series on link building. He also has a page dedicated to some free SEO tools you want to be sure to use.
There are many more things you can do, but starting with some of the best SEO plugins, posting regularly to your blog (be sure you have a good ping list), and using article marketing tactics is a terrific way to start.
If you are not sure how to utilize article marketing to the maximum, the resource I highly recommend (it doesn’t even cost an arm and a leg) is Jim Edwards’ Turn Words Into Traffic. That’s the e-book I bought to help me make the most of the time I spend writing articles.
If you want to know more about SEO, the best book I have found is SEOBook. Over 300 pages jam-packed with SEO tips and techniques, and you get lifetime free updates as SEO tactics change.
